Living @ Urbanest, Southbank, Brisbane

It has been weeks ever since I started looking for accommodation in Brisbane. The accommodation issue is really quite a hassle.

Fyi, I have been searching high and low for off-campus accommodation which is close to UQ. In the beginning, I was trying to take up residency at any colleges around UQ. Unfortunately, most of the application was closed in early September 2010. So, my only choice left was Emmanuel College if I really want to stay on-campus.

But looking at the complicated application procedure, I gave up to stay at Emmanuel College. It requires an application form handed in with application fee, a referee report form, a biography of myself and also an interview from a senior student. Although Emmanuel College is equipped with complete facilities and each student is provided with 21 meals per week, the fee is ridiculously expensive. The rental rate is 17, 500 AUD for 34 weeks only, that means I have to pay approximately 515 AUD per week. By looking at this aspect, I would rather stay off-campus.

At last, I booked a standard room in a 6-bedroom apartment @ Urbanest, South Brisbane. The rent is very reasonable, which costs me 245 AUD per week. Urbanest itself is a newly opened apartment in 2010. The interior and exterior designs of the apartment are very edgy. Each building block is painted with bold colours like forest green, lime green, snowy white and dim grey. There is a great variety of room type to choose from, they range from single studios to 6-bedroom apartment. Each apartment is furnished with a shared kitchen among flatmates and a living area. Each room has it's own ensuite bathroom and it is air-conditioned! Imma love this apartment upon my arrival in Brisbane next month! It will be an ultimate living experience at this lovely Urbanest apartment.

Oh, Oh and and and the apartment serves really good location. It only requires a 6 minutes bus ride or a 15 minutes short walk to Brisbane city! Withing walking distance from Urbanest, there are convenience stores, restaurants, cafes, shopping malls and many wonderful attractions. Not to forget to mention that Southbank train station and busway are on the doorstep right in front of Urbanest! And also I could take either bus, train or ferry to UQ, the overall journey takes less than 20 minutes. You can see how convenient and comfy it is to live @ Urbanest!

I am looking forward to starting my University life in UQ this coming February!
Stay tune, people!

Hey! :)

A few friends of mine had previously stayed at Urbanest. They told me it is an awesome accommodation. If you wanna get to UQ, you can just hop onto bus 109 at southbank busway which is next to Urbanest! Transport couldn't be any more convenient! :) Btw, it's just a 10 minutes bus ride to UQ. Do you plan to stay at Urbanest?
